Splivid User Manual

A reference for everything Splivid does — from the pad grid to external-display output. New here? Try the Get Started guide first.

1. Overview

Splivid is a live visual instrument for iPad. You load visual content onto a grid of pads, trigger those pads to the canvas, stack effects on top, and map effect parameters to sound so everything moves with the music. You can sequence a set, record it, and send a clean full-screen mix to an external display for shows and installations.

2. Pads & content

The pad grid is where your material lives. Each pad holds one piece of content. Tap an empty pad to assign it a source:

• Videos and photos from your Camera Roll or the Files app
• Blozzum generative presets
• Sploopy loops

Load several pads to build a palette of looks you can move between during a performance.

3. Triggering

Bring a pad to the canvas by triggering it. There are three ways:

• Touch — tap a pad to fire it yourself.
• Tempo — lock a pad to the beat so it triggers in time.
• Pattern — set a pad to follow a pattern so it fires on a repeating rhythm.

Combining touch with tempo- and pattern-driven pads lets the set move on its own while you play the parts you want by hand.

4. The effects engine

Splivid includes dozens of GPU-accelerated effects, including echoes, kaleidoscopes, tiles, distortions, glitches, blurs, and color and light. You can:

• Add an effect to a pad.
• Chain multiple effects to build a compound look.
• Tweak every parameter — each effect ships with musical defaults, so it looks good immediately and rewards deeper tuning.

5. Sound reactivity

Any effect parameter can be driven by audio. Choose a source — the microphone for live sound, or an audio file — then map a parameter to one of:

• Loudness — overall level
• Beat — the pulse of the track
• Peak — transient hits
• Envelope — the shape of the sound over time
• Time — steady, clock-based movement

Map a few parameters and your visuals pulse, morph, and animate in sync with the music.

6. Tempo & sequencing

Set the tempo so tempo-locked pads and patterns stay on the beat. Build a sequence to move through pads and looks over time, so your set can run hands-free while you perform — or step in and take manual control whenever you like.

7. Recording & export

Record your session and export it as a video to your photo library, ready to share. Exported video is saved to Photos; make sure Splivid has photo-library access (see Permissions).

8. External display Pro

Connect your iPad to a projector, monitor, or TV (by adapter or AirPlay) and Splivid sends a clean, full-screen mix to that display — only the generative imagery, with no controls or overlays. Your controls stay on the iPad, so the audience sees just the art. External-display output is part of Splivid Pro.

9. Splivid Pro

Splivid is free to play with. A Splivid Pro subscription unlocks the full rig:

• No watermark on the canvas, recordings, or exports
• External-display output for projectors, monitors, and TVs

Splivid Pro is an auto-renewing subscription — Monthly or Annual, with the price shown in the app and varying by region. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at purchase and renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. See the Terms of Use for full details.

10. Permissions

Splivid asks only for what it needs, and uses each on your device:

• Camera — used on-device to power its features; not recorded or transmitted, except in content you choose to save or export.
• Microphone — used on-device for sound reactivity; your audio is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere, except in content you choose to save or export.
• Photo Library — to bring in your own media and to save what you export.

You can change any permission in Settings under Splivid. Splivid does not collect, store, or transmit personal data — see the Privacy Policy.

11. Performance & tips

• Splivid renders in real time on the GPU, which can make your iPad run warm and use battery. For long sessions or shows, plug in when you can.
• Start from musical defaults, then tune one parameter at a time — small changes go a long way.
• Map only a few parameters to sound at first; it’s easy to over-drive a look.
• For a clean show, set up tempo- and pattern-driven pads so the set can carry itself, and keep a couple of pads for manual triggers.
